Best Dog Cameras & Pet Monitors Questions Owners Ask
Where can I learn more?
Read the camera maker's privacy policy and the AVMA's notes on separation anxiety before you buy a gadget to watch a dog. A camera shows pacing and barking. Pair the clip with a clinic visit if the dog is destroying the crate or drooling when left.
How often should I take my pet to the vet?
A pet camera can catch a seizure or overnight vomiting you would otherwise miss, and the clip is a reason to call the clinic. It does not store the vaccine series: puppies are examined every 3 to 4 weeks until about 16 weeks, adult dogs at least yearly, and many dogs from about 7 years of age, giant breeds earlier, about every six months. Heartworm testing still happens at the preventive visit. A recorded collapse is not something to save for that anniversary.
How can I save money on pet care?
A camera is wasted money if the dog is bored for ten hours. A midday walker, a frozen food toy, and a crate the dog already accepts cost less than replacing a couch. Buy the camera after the departure routine is boring, and skip the subscription tier you will not watch.
